Reykjavik Icelend Fire and Ice

Our long awaited cruise to Reykjavik Iceland arrived as we cruised into port you could clearly see all the monuments and things we had read so much about.
After much too- ing and fro-ing we chose to do the  Golden Circle excursion of 8 hour duration. Our first stop was to visit a geo thermal power station driven from the hot lava below the surface, very interesting. from there we drove to see a crater with a lake and then onto to Geyser a geo thermal area of hot springs and a geyser going off every five minutes or so. After a very nice Icelandic lunch including curried herrings, we drove onto the Thingvellir National park where  we walked through the geological fault known as Almannaga where the earths crust is splitting and widening by 2 cm per year. it was a horrible day pissing with rain extremely cold and windy. We were rugged up to guard against it but it was quite uncomfortable. On the way back we saw many hothouses heated by the thermal springs where they even grow bananas as well as all their veges and fruit.
Our excursion finished with a hurried drive through the City of Reykjavik to see some of the important aspects. Unfortunately our time here was too short as there was plenty to see and do. maybe we come back again some day. Who knows.
