An exciting Adventure The Kiel Canal

We've been fortunate to see the Panama Canal, Suez Canal, just been to St Petersburg but the highlight of our cruise so far has been today going through the Kiel Canal. We are three hours late because of traffic, but the scenery is just amazing. Every meter of the journey has just been so exciting, people on bikes beside the canal are stopped waving to us and vice versa. What a hoot.
it is 100 km long and we are about half way, beautiful villages all sorts of craft and ships coming either way. very expensive houses, factories ship building and everything Is so green. There was a tanker, 20 yachts of all description and us in the lock. The photo shows it all. More tomorrow after we exit later this evening.
We arrive in Amsterdam late tomorrow afternoon.
All loaded up and gate opening

The race is on yachts heading into the canal

A golden field of grain

Boats passing us

A new yacht just built in factory Nice eh

Two old cronies

The CAnal has over 44000 ships passing through each year more than the Panama and Suez Canals in total.
We sailed out last night at 9.30 pm over three and half hours late. He has the pedal to the metal on our way to Amsterdam for 3 pm arrival.
