Ghent Belgium Historic European City

Ghent in Belgium is like being in the Middle Ages. Many of the buildings date back to the thirteenth century. We took the shuttle into town and it begins with the striking St Michaels bridge where you get a good view of historic city centre.
The old port has many gabled guild houses and possibly the best Cathedral we have ever seen St Nicholas Church. Ghent is famous for its chocolate and there are many very impressive shops. We took a canal cruise which wasn't the best but gave us good overview of this lovely City. We stayed in town and had lunch in the Square which consisted of Minestrone soup and a large sausage with mash, all for ten euro.
